Ellen Heck is the author/illustrator of A Is for Bee: An Alphabet Book in Translation, a Booklist and The New York Times Best of the Year 2022. She is also the illustrator of Golden Gate: Building the Mighty Bridge, a Kirkus Best Book of 2024. Sunflower Seeds is her third picture book. Her family lives in North Carolina, where they have already planted three more summers of sunflowers from their original seeds—though some years there was more than one for the deer...
